The blue Frühburgunder is a descendant (mutation) of the blue Pinot Noir and is one of the oldest European grapevines. The cultivation is limited today to the German viticulture and is bestockt with 250 ha, and of it are in the Ahr valley 35 ha. The very low and uncertain yields do not allow economic cultivation. But because we want to preserve this old variety because of its special character for the next generations, the Frühburgunder is cultivated in our winery. Of the Frühburgunder always brings us colorful, strong, expressive wines with a velvety character. He is the feminine type, whereas the Spätburgunder shows more of the masculine side. Classic extension in old wooden barrel. Companion to game, braised and wild mushrooms.
